About Our Pastor
A native of Terrell, Texas, Rev. Marcus D. King received his Master of Christian Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Bachelor’s degree in English and Christian Ministry while attending Sam Houston State University and Dallas Baptist University. Prior to his role as pastor, he served as the Pastor of Singles and Family Communities at the 9,000 member Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas where Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III is the Senior Pastor.
Community involvement, growing healthy relationships, helping people to become all that God created them to be, and social justice issues have always been important to Rev. King. For over 15 years, he has been compelled by God to change a life that can change the world. His career in changing lives through teaching began early in life and continued as an eighth-grade English teacher in West Dallas.
His dynamic proclamation of the Gospel, transformative and practical teaching style, along with a comedic candor are just a few character traits that have placed him in the ranks of highly respected speakers. He has shared the stage with many of God's greatest proclaimers of the gospel in cities across the nation and beyond borders including Kingston and Runaway Bay, Jamaica. He can be heard everyday via the online broadcast of streamingfaith.com, www.jc3online.org or on his own radio show entitled Thirsty Thursdays on KGCM internet radio. Pastor King hosts a raw and relevant television show, Christians Uncut, addressing topics church people don't like to discuss on Access34.TV. He has had a myriad of media appearances via print, video, as well as audio throughout the years. Also among his accomplishments are two published inspirational devotional books for those single or married entitled Thirsty Thursdays.
